Prompt: How did visual archaeology and teamwork help you understand the significance of the Priest/King sculpture from Indus Valley Civilization? i need u to answer this question after watching/listening to what i mentioned above
here is an example of a classmate’s response which was wonderfully said for guidance!: Through the visual archaeology and teamwork, our group discussed various points about the Priest/King sculpture from Indus Valley Civilization. As we are faced with the limits of history again, we tried to stick to observations and made possible inferences. For instance, the prints on the sculpture’s clothing, the armband, the diadem, the expression of the sculpture’s face (peaceful, meditative, impassive), and even the proportions and posture of the sculpture were discussed. Concerning the ornamentation, we deducted that this figure (real or fictional) was a figure of importance, possibly one of wealth or social/religious/political importance. And we discussed that the expression and posture could convey power, knowledge, and even wisdom. Through the bigger class discussion, the note about the geometry brought in a new perspective that got me thinking about the “ideal” of the culture. Possibly, how the precision, organization, or clean-cut ness, could have represented a figure or symbol of appraise. Though there are obvious gaps within our analysis, it was great to test the possible range of our interpretation as a class and it was surprising to learn the similarities between the visual records of the Indus Valley Civilization and the sculpture.

here is another example to help u! example of a classmate’s answer 2: In my group we used visual archaeology to build premises without jumping to conclusions. Rather than assume the man in the sculpture was an important man, we laid out what we didn’t know before what we did know. I asked if this sculpture was one of many at the site or did it stand alone? If it was one of many the sculpture could be more decorative than significant. Similarly, we all agreed that the fabric he was wearing was significant because we know how difficult it is to make patterned fabric by hand and how difficult it would be to sculpt it accurately. For that much detail to be put in, it must have some significance to his identity or the social identity. Essentially, visual archaeology helped us come to our own conclusions about the sculpture and agree that we really couldn’t know for sure what or who this sculpture is supposed to represent, but we know it has cultural significance to the people who lived at the site where the sculpture was found. Whether that means the sculpture was of a leader or a deity I cannot be sure.
