Week 4 Discussion: Chapter 2, Building Negative Peace
Dr. Jean-Marc Akakpo
Now that we have finished the first chapter of our book, Understanding War, we are going to dive into chapter 2, Building Negative Peace. After checking the readings, I realized that this chapter has a lot of readings. Therefore, I divided in two; the first 7 chapters for this week and the rest will be covered next week. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach to me at jakakpo@kennesaw.edu.
After you read this week’s assigned chapters pages (66-99), please pick one of the following topics:
A World Free of Nuclear Weapons, George P. Shultz, William J. Perry, Henry A. Kissinger, and Sam Nunn, 91-94
And complete the step below:
- What are the main ideas of the topic of your choice?
- Define the key terms used by the author
- What are the strong points of the topic of your choices?
- Give real life example that can be applied to your topic
For your 2 reply posts to your classmates:
- Summarize his or her idea in your own words
- Ask questions for clarification if needed
- Be sure to define your terms and to support your answer with references to the course materials (and the videos) and/or the readings for this week.
- Give real life experience to support your response.
