Assignment:

Write a 3 page review of a Broadway musical of your choice. Off-Broadway musicals

(Rocky Horror Picture Show, etc.) and some movie musicals are acceptable

For example:Lion King, Aladdin, etc

– 1” margins (top, bottom, sides)

– Double spaced!

– 12 point font

– No cursive, colored or decorative fonts

– Left justification only (no both or right justification)

– Cite any material used form another source including the DVD/video liner notes (you

may use either Chicago or MLA style manuals but be consistent!)

– You do not need a cover sheet/title page but you do need your name on it.

– Italicize titles of musicals but put individual songs in quotation marks

Content:

– Give background info on the musical (composer, title, year of release, year of the

performance you are watching, important songs, etc.) and any other information about

this particular performance that is relevant.

– Critique the musical as a whole (what was good about it, what was bad about it, etc.).

Speak about the relationship of the music to the story, the music itself, the

performance of the principals and even the chorus if necessary, the dialogue, a

comparison of the version you are viewing to the original story or to another

performance if applicable, etc.

– Give your personal opinion about the musical (and this performance) and why you

felt that way.
