Lean operations can be described as a business approach driven by doing more with less principle. It is a conservative strategy for running any business and improving everyday operations. Generally, lean operations can be defined as beneficial business management means whereby one focuses on providing better consumer fulfillment while using lesser resources (Heizer, Render, & Munson, 2021). Lean techniques can be applied to product development through the guidance of several principles. The first principle is defining customer value to make sure that every launched feature serves one’s audience and prevents the time and resource wastage working on something consumers will not need.
The second principle is identifying the value stream and lessening waste, whereby one is required to comprehend and map new features back to consumer needs to assist in defining the ultimate goal (Marodin et al., 2018). Making the value-creating steps effective is the third principle, whereby one should ensure the processes flow smoothly. Other guiding principles include empowering the team, learning, and improving. One of the benefits of applying lean techniques to product development is that they enable organizations to develop products much quicker and with reduced waste. Secondly, they improve communication throughout the departments and get rid of communication silos entirely, leading to the generation of more excellent products.

It is natural for people to identify waste when it’s mapped out and understood as something that has cost. Sometimes it’s the time spent waiting for a signature, sometimes it’s time material spends on storage shelves. Either way – it can be a motivating process to eliminate waste if done wisely.
1. Have you seen any of this in action yourself?
2. Lean techniques can improve communication. Explain.
3. Should the employees be aware of the waste and its effects on the company? Or do you think the majority of companies already tell their employees that information?
Your document should be a minimum of 150 words, plus have credible references.
