- -Clarisse is happy because Alcee writes a message and told her to extend her stay in Biloxi, Mississippi. Clarisse was happy to receive her message as she feel free for the first time in her marriage. Although Calixta and Alcee committed adultery and take it a secret.Calixta is happy cause her son Bibi and husband Bobinot make home safely after the storm passed over. Alcee is happy after committing adultery with his long-past girlfriend Calixta.In my opinion, Calixta and Alcee were wrong for committing adultery. But they keep it a secret to save their marriage.
- -First off, I really enjoyed this short story. Calixta is married and Alcee is married also. They were former lovers once before. Calixta and Alcee has always had feelings for each other. From the way that Calixta welcomed Alcee in, it is who she wants. It did not take them long to become enthusiastic with one another. Calixta should not be married because she is still in love with Alcee, but she is married. Alcee is in the same situation. Clarisse is happy at the end of the story because she can enjoy her vacation and not have to be so anxious to get back to Alcee. Alcee does not need Clarisse to come home because he had seen his former lover. Their spouses do not share the passion that Alcee and Calixta share.
