Screen pitch idea, Screen Pitch
Use what you have learned about film thus far in the course to create your own pitch for a film that you want to create. You will have 5 minutes to pitch an idea for a short film to the class. The pitch must be based upon a new and creative idea. It may not be an adaptation, sequel, spinoff, etc. The presentations should be enthusiastic and you should think of your classmates and professor as studio executives. Your pitch should not just focus on plot, but must offer an idea that is realistic within shooting timeline, technical requirements, and possible budget. You can shoot for the moon or be more realistic for a short film that you could produce in a later class. Students will give feedback to each other on their ideas. Hand written screen pitches will NOT be accepted. The materials you will need are:
-
- Logline – the one-sentence sales pitch of your film
- Teaser Pitch – this is the hook! Summarize the narrative in 25 words or less. Remember, executives do not want totally original. Include any explanation about your influence for the story. The pitch should be 25 words or less that should introduce the characters, conflict, genre, and visual style. This is a pitch so sell it.
