The reflection should cover all important topics and give some brief reflection after each topic. Simply listing the topics is not sufficient for a full grade. there are tow slides , need to separate and each need write tow paragraph, please has thoughtful reflection, do not just write knowledge slides. The reflection should cover all important topics and give some brief reflection after each topic. Simply listing the topics is not sufficient for a full grade.

I understand your concern and I am sorry you found the grading of your reflection unsatisfying. I have just gone over your submission and in my personal opinion it is indeed more of a summary of the topics covered rather than the “thoughtful reflection” which would earn a score of 2. That said, I am in fact not the one who establishes a rubric and grades the assignments in this course since we have two graders, so in case you have a question about grading or you want to request a regrade in the future please feel free to email the corresponding grader (see syllabus) directly. I will, nevertheless, share my thoughts about your reflection and the ways to improve it of course. Here are a few things to note:

1. Having gone through other reflections that earned 2 points, most of which are rather comprehensive, I somewhat understand why yours might have fallen on the lower part of the distribution based solely on the relative scale. In addition, you probably saw that the average is around 1.61/2 which means almost half of the class got a score of 1. This should signal that for a grade of 2 your reflection should indeed be thoroughly detailed and thoughtful, and a simple summary of the topics covered is far from being sufficient.

2. When it comes to the word count, I do not believe the number of words actually matters for the grade. There were reflections similar in size to yours (or shorter) that scored 2. That said, there is clearly a correlation between the two as by providing more details you can produce a more holistic and reflective answer.

3. In your future reflection notes, try to avoid simply going over what you covered in class (or perhaps spend 1-2 sentences on the summary). Instead, try to produce a deeper and more creative reflection on how the topics learnt can be implemented in real world, e.g. how would a data scientist/academic researcher/policy maker utilize the statistical/econometric tools to answer some tangible questions of importance. You could also talk about your impressions and opinions as well such as “I think that presenting the X type of data using Y type of chart is the most useful since it allows us to see …” or “I think that in the context X the sample mean is a descriptive statistic I would be more inclined to use, while in context Y my choice would be the sample median; this is due to the fact that …”.
