I simply don’t get it. Is there any person on this planet who understood “Pride and Prejudice” from the first reading? Don’t get me wrong, I really like how Jane Austen narrated the story, but writing an essay on it? A nightmare for me!

Here is my problem, I cannot connect the protagonist to the ideas I have in my mind. I firmly believe that Elizabeth Bennet is a great character and stuff. But what if I tell you that I cannot understand her motivations at all? Is there any way for me to criticize Austen a bit? Look, I couldn’t get an idea why Elizabeth became so prejudicial. Her story with Mr. Darcy is well-written and romantic. But how do I mention such inconsistency in my essay?

Another huge problem is that I cannot craft a decent outline. What do I start with? Do I need to retell the story a bit? Or should I straightforwardly discuss Elizabeth and her inconsistent character? Well, that’s a bit puzzling, don’t you think so?

Righ, what else struck me is that all reviewers say that this novel is all so romantic. I don’t know; I clearly see connections to wealth and money, but not romantic feelings whatsoever. Canonically, the story of Elizabeth and Darcy ends perfectly, right? While she overcomes her prejudices, Darcy forgets about the pride. Should I explain this reference to the title in my essay?

Let’s move forward. What I don’t like in the story is how the morale is represented. Love wins money, hurray. Okay, in what way do I describe such impressions in my assignment? Wouldn’t it seem to bit too reflection-based as for the Literature assignment? You see, I don’t want to spoil my grade just because of not following the instructions properly. This way, how do I write a critique that is balanced and reasonable, not just chattering of my dissatisfaction on something?

Finally, do you know how to make MLA citations when I have a paper book? We got one from the library to read this novel, but most Internet pages specify how online books are cited. Any recommendations? Should I be using page numbers? What about direct quotes? Damn, it’s too confusing right now. I’ve always struggled with citation, so my work on “Pride and Prejudice” ain’t an exception.
