The first step in getting together a grant proposal is to consider donors. You will be required to compile a short list of possible donors, no more than 10, using the Internet to help you search. A great place to begin the search is http://www.grants.gov/. The donors should have similar ideals you are searching for and that best matches your program’s ideals in preparation for your Final Grant Proposal. Once you have identified a short list, you will be required to locate a grant and evaluate it within the context of your own proposal.

In your submission, the following is required:

  1. List of compiled donors
  2. Choose one of the donors and provide the following information:
  3. Type and amount of funding provided
  4. Funding priorities
  5. Criteria for grant submission
  6. List of current RFPs
  7. Write a brief description (3 to 5 sentences) about the corporation or foundation and what it does. How is the business structured? How many facilities does it have? What type of product or service does it offer? Who are the customers?
  8. Consider linking your program to an existing non-profit with a similar mission you are seeking.
  9. Who would you involve in the project who have obtained and managed grants or contracts over their careers?
  10. Who will you talk to about your project?

You will submit your evaluation as a 2 page, double-spaced document (minimum). The list of possible donors will be included, but not counted as part of the minimum 2 pages of text.
