In Module 3, your instructor will post a list of 20 stocks from which you will select five
Coca-Cola CoApple IncAdvance Micro Devices IncExxon Mobil CorpProcter and Gamble Company
to serve as the focus for your project.
You will be able to conduct a trade one time only from the original list of 20 stocks. Your instructor will discuss the timing of this trade during class.
Instructions for the Final Report, Module 10
Length: 57 pages, APA formatting required.
Include the following:
- Beginning values of each stock based on the number of shares you bought. Ending values of the same. Assume no brokerage service fees.
- Total portfolio worth through Week 9.
- Include relevant and instructive charts and/or graphs.
- Percent gain or loss for each stock and your entire portfolio.
- Identify which stock gave your portfolio the most upside and which one gave the most downside.
- Provide analysis on price movement based on any news events you tracked.
- If you were the portfolio manager, what could you have done differently? Bought more of one stock or another? Bought less of one stock or another? Diversified better? Focused on one market segment more? And so forth. Using this information and these ideas, craft at least one alternative solution to your portfolio during this 8-week period.
- How did the volatility of the market affect your decision on which stocks to select, how many shares to buy, and whether to engage in trading? Describe how your initial selection made you feel. Describe your emotional thoughts and feelings as you monitored your portfolio for seven weeks.
- What emotional sensation would you reveal if you uncovered that a competitor had better results with the same stocks, but did not follow the proper ethics and has a less than suitable compass for honest decisions?
- The results of your managed portfolio dictates affordability of year end bonuses to your staff, during periods of high inflation, market volatility, and employment issues. How does this impact if at all company morale and overall sustainability of your firm?
