• In the past three decades or so, globalization/regionalization, migration and reverse migration, and emerging markets, the demand for people with a global mindset, and the worldwide war for talent have all brought about fundamental changes to the nature and magnitude for human resource management (HRM) in a global context. These changes require us to adopt new lenses to fully understand the dynamics that impact international human resource management (IHRM) policies and practices.The international business environment has witnessed changes such as shifts in the global landscape with the growth of emerging markets and shifts in the ways firms engage with each other. Key roles of HR with regard to global teams pertain to developing and maintaining a coordinated HR system throughout the organization that taps into the potential of global team members and includes processes for the provision of core HR practices, such as appropriate recruitment and selection, training, career development, developing global leaders who possess global mindsets, managing international assignments, and global talent management. However, these global teams are faced with HR challenges.
