Here is your chance to put what you have learned about developmental psychology into use in a real life situation. Consider all the many topics covered this semester from the ages/stages of human development, the focus on physical, cognitive, and socioemotional development across the lifespan…in addition to things like human cognition and memory, human behavior, learning, social influences of human development, and personality/temperament, just to name a few. Think about how this pandemic has affected you, someone in your family, or a close friend. Select up to four (4) main concepts from developmental psychology that we covered throughout this semester that you think helps you better understand OR explains your (or family/friends) behavior, thoughts, or feelings about ANY aspect of this international disaster. A well developed, well informed and accurate use of any concept, theory, term, in your explanation, from your study of developmental psychology this semester gives you a chance at up to five extra credit points each, for a total extra credit opportunity of 20 possible points!
For example, I might use some aspects of social influence to explain why someone would take their small children to a rally with hundreds of people there. Or, I might use concepts of the Big 5 personality traits to explain why my best friend is an emotional wreck and I am totally calm during this pandemic etc .These are very brief; I would expect enough accurate and specific details about each concept, theory, or term to clearly show evidence of your understanding of your choices.
