The video states that the unethical studies it presents provided psychologists with important information about human behavior. Which do you think is more important–the findings of these studies, or the fact that they were all unethical? Explain your answer
Q2–
Replication is an important part of the scientific method. Researcher A’s results ought to be reproducible when Research B follows the same methods. 1. In my opinion, the fact that these studies were all unethical is more important than the information these studies provided. Abusing people is not the correct way to study human behavior. The research that was done on young children affected them negatively for their entire lives. They were traumatized for the purpose of other peoples’ need to learn new information, even though the researchers could have accomplished the same thing in a much more humane manner. It is very fortunate that these forms of research have been deemed unethical, though they shouldn’t have been considered ethical to begin with.
2. Although the studies done can and should not ever be replicated, the results can still be used to conduct further studies on the subject matter. They also still have scientific value in and of themselves. The studies were exceedingly unethical, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that their results have still provided psychologists with new knowledge on human behaviors. Information is still information even if discovered in a terrible manner. An additional reason these studies have scientific value is because they show how people can behave when there aren’t ethical principles in place. However, the scientific value of the studies does not in any way make up for the fact that people were traumatized by them for life
