The weight of being a CEO is not heavy in terms of physical pounds but on more of a mental weight in terms of the level of focus and drive that one needs to be in order to successfully operate a business. Constantly managing each department and trusting that those you have as your direct reports are competent enough to accomplish the tasks assigned to them in a way that will make the business profitable sounds stressful. While the micro decisions may not be made by the CEO the genral direction that the business is headed in is decided by the CEO.One advantage to utilizing social media to discover potential candidates is that, as the recruiter, the option to search for the best candidate based off of their profile allows you to better target the best fit for the role you need to have filled within the organization. Another advantage is that the organization will not have to filter through all of the spam applications of people that do not qualify for the position that needs to be filled. An industry with high turnover rates would have to be call centers, around 40% of call agents leave their role in the organization within the first twelve months. Over half of the employees that work at call centers report that they receive poor training and are pessimistic about their careers, which can lead to poor workplace performance as they feel less of a need to care about their employment (Top 3 Reasons, 2021). Most of the employees in call centers complain that the technology they are using is behind the times and that most of the customer issues that they deal with could be solved with an AI program designed around the company’s product.ReferencesNew ASAPP Research Reveals Top 3 Reasons Why Contact Center Workers Have One of the Highest Turnover Rates in The Nation. Would you expect the weight (as in pounds) to be related to the ability to perform the job of a corporate CEO? Why or why not? When evaluating jobs, every job has it’s own physical demands. Labor jobs tend to be the most intense because they require workers to use their hands, and perform physical tasks. In regards to office work, this isn’t the case. These jobs tend to include computer work, or paperwork. There are not requirements in this field to use physical labor. Someone who performs physical labor should try to stay in shape because their bodies depend on it, and the outcome of their performance can be dependent on their weight. For a CEO, they most likely delegate workers from an office, emails, and through a phone. Due to their limited physical activity, weight performance does not truly affect their capability to preform the job.
- What are some advantages of finding a candidate via social media compared with posting openings on a company’s website? When determining candidates for a potential job, it is best to try to get the best picture and understanding of how this particular individual works. First impressions are crucial because it sets the stage for any further questioning, and interactions that happen while in an interview. If you are dressing in a t-shirt, and sandals, the manager most likely will not waste their time with this candidate because of the first impression. When applying through a posting, the hiring manager does not have the capability to see who this individual is, or how they construct their life, until they are in the interview. When it comes to social media, all this information can be available. Managers can see who their friends are, the type of crowd, and how they portray themselves. Pictures of someone who is in a bar all the time, or with drinks in their hands might give the idea that they might be unreliable, etc. Companies can use social media as an advantage to gather information on a potential hire.
Following a little outside research (do not forget to cite your source) what industries experience the greatest turnover? Why do you think this is?Technological and retail industries have shown to have high turnover. These companies are constantly growing and adapting which can cause individuals to look for other options. When markets are increasing, more opportunities can be open to workers so they might look to make a shift because the opportunity may seem better at another employer. For retail jobs, the amount of work assigned, to the amount of pay, creates a pool for those who do not have a lot of work experience. Retail jobs can be seen to hire teenagers, and younger workers because they need to work part time to make some money. As they grow, they will look for more responsibility and higher pay. Since retail companies offer lower wages, people will continuously work until they find something better. Very few people have the opportunity to crate a career from that field.
