For the first part of the assigned project, you will create a partial draft of the risk management plan. To do so, follow these steps:
- Research risk management plans.(Consider what you and your classmates discussed in week 3s discussion)
- Include a Cover Page.
- Create a table of contents for a basic risk management plan with anticipated section headings (as indicated in this numbered list). I will demo this in the live session this week.
- Write an introduction to the plan by explaining its purpose and importance.
- Define the scope and boundaries of the plan.
- Threats and Vulnerabilities based on the background. Provide two threats and two vulnerabilities.
- Research and summarize compliance laws and regulations that pertain to the organization. Keep track of sources you use for citation purposes.(Consider week 2s discussion)
- Identify the key roles and responsibilities of individuals and departments within the organization as they pertain to risk management.
- Develop a proposed schedule (About 1 year) for the risk management planning process. You will have to make assumptions about how long different tasks will take. At a minimum you should schedule the following activities (not everything can be done at the same time):
- Risk Assessment (conducted periodically (no more than every 6 months) and when the environment and or threat change) These require 1-2 weeks.
- Risk Mitigation (2-3 days)
- Kick-off meeting with Senior leadership (1 day)
- Recurring working group meetings (1 day)
- Monthly Stakeholder meetings (1-2 days)
- Periodic Reviews (These typically require a week of prep and can be completed in one day)
- Risk Management Plan Approval process/briefings
- Create a draft risk management plan detailing the information above. Format the plan similar to a professional business report and cite any sources you used.
