ITM-470: Information Technology Management

Getting Started

Providing a way to decipher Wartime messages meant that Germany would  fail in its global domination attempts. Mr. Flowers and Mr. Turing are  mentioned within this case study at the beginning of chapter 2. The  Colossus was Mr. Flowers’ creation.

A fairly recent movie about code-breaking called “The Imitation Game”  was a popular hit that starred Benjamin Cumberbatch.  While the movie  drama is compelling the real-life situation was life and death. The  systems solution was an innovation and show how technical solutions are  vital to developing business solutions (or wartime ones for that  matter).

Upon successful completion of this discussion, you will be able to:

  • Describe the way that computer power helped in World War II.

Background Information

Turing was solving a real-world problem. He had faith in his solution  against all odds. IT computers started out the size of a warehouse and  now we have that power in the palm of our hands. The scale of the  code-breaking solution was massive and impacted the world.
