Question 1: 15 Points.

Be prepared to provide accurate definitions of BOTH ethics and morality, and be able to describe the difference and the relationship between the two terms.  Gensler

Question 2: 30 points.

Choose TWO ethical thinkers or traditions from each of the following sets.  Then, be prepared to describe how each tradition or thinker understands the way that human behavior is to be guided, and what the reasons are making such ethical choices.

Set 1: Ethics from the Ancient World: China, India, Greece, Mexico

Set 2: Medieval and Early Modern Ethics: Islam, Thomas Hobbes, David Hume

Set 3: Modern and Post-Modern Ethics: Kant, Nietzsche, Existentialism, Post-Modernism

BE CERTAIN to cite specific examples from readings and/or Zoom sessions in your answer.

Question 3: 30 points.

Choose TWO from the following list of six ethical positions.  Then, be prepared to describe each of the positions’ basic claims, strengths, and weaknesses.

Cultural Relativism, Subjectivism, Supernaturalism, Intuitionism, Emotivism, Prescriptivism.

Question 4: 25 points.

Choose ONE of the following positions for Normative Ethics.  Then, be prepared to describe the claims, strengths, and weaknesses of the position you have chosen to address.
