(Johnson, 2021, p. 225-226). I specifically found the last of the four steps reaffirming in my own mindset and ideas when itcomes to negotiation tactics. I am not a fan of confrontation to begin with or arguing for the sake ofarguing. I prefer to look at the logistics and find a way to reach a solution that makes logical sense andappeals to all parties.Chapter 8: Normative Leadership Theories discussed different leadership theories. The theory that mostsurprised me was the Aesthetic (Beautiful) Leadership. This perspective focuses on the emotionaldimension of organizational life. This means, that the way a leader perceives and sparks emotion inothers is part of this aesthetic leadership. The difficult aspect with this theory is people can begin toview leadership as an art form and therefore, perform in their leadership duties.Art and performance is a part of my daily life because that is what I do. My art form is dance and part ofdance is igniting passion and striving for the audience to feel emotion from a piece. The idea ofleadership being an art form seems strange and foreign yet also home base in a sense. I think leadershipcan be an art because each person must develop their own leadership style just like each persondevelops their own unique art form. The difficult part of thinking of leadership as an art form is a leaderdoes need to develop their own style but they do not need to perform it. If a leader is performingleadership then they are more likely to not work recognize or focus on the “bad” parts that need extraattention. They are going to put their best foot forward and make sure that only that part is seen oraccentuated in the environment.I am going to do more research on the aesthetic leadership theory because I could see myselfincorporating this style into my leadership either unintentional or intentional. By making myself moreaware of if I am performing then I can learn if it is a good or bad thing in my leadership style.
