You are contacted by a Chief who states that she is having a problem with an employee. This weekend, the employee and his girlfriend were involved in a domestic dispute. The dispute was not physical so no one was arrested but the police were called because they were loud and the neighbors were concerned. The Chief asks you to counsel the officer in hopes of preventing future incidents between the officer and his girlfriend. During the session, the officer states: “Its no big deal all couples argue”. But during the interview you find that the girlfriend obtained a Restraining Order due to this argument for fear of future acts of violence. In addition, you find that the reason for the argument was that the officer caught his girlfriend cheating. None of which was disclosed by the responding officers to the call.
Research the role of the police psychologist in this matter: An interesting point to consider, police do not trust a psychologist.
