Last week you interviewed an I/O leader for an understanding of his/her leadership development and style, application of theory, and issues surrounding multiculturalism in the workplace. Although position and titles may vary, this person should have experience as a leader of a department, team, or organization.

This week you will have a two-part assignment where you first provide a detailed account of the interview to include all questions and answers and then analyze your findings.

Part I

Conduct your interview using the following questions in addition to two you provide (this was completed in Unit 6). Provide the questions and answers from your interview for the first part of your assignment. You can do this in a table or in another question/answer format.

  • What kind of organizational efforts have you made to ensure a commitment to the diversity initiative or value?
  • How do culture and other factors affect the social organization of your organization?
  • How do culture and other factors affect your leadership?
  • What are some of the common challenges that you might face when working in a diverse community?
  • Does your organization have clearly defined objectives and strategies for addressing gender inequities?

Part 2

On the same word document, write a 4-5 page summary analyzing what you learned from your interview.

  • Summarize what you learned about the effects of gender and culture on leadership style.
  • Describe the interview’s effect on your understanding of leadership development within the social dynamics of the workplace.
  • Analyze how the leadership style you selected for the interview is influenced by underlying leadership theory.
  • Describes the social aspects of the interviewee’s workplace environment and its impact on the style of leadership that he/she have found most successful.
  • Describe how multiculturalism and diversity affect workplace relations and how that can be overcome.

Include at least two references from the text or scholarly, peer-reviewed sources. You must include at least two sources. Your text can be used as one of your sources.
