The paper can be organized around a few (2~4) related subtopics, sequenced logically. the paper could have the following subtopics:
- Why is it important to pay attention to Multiword units(MWU) (for teachers and/or learners)?
- What makes MWUs difficult for learners?
- What are some effective approaches/principles in teaching MWUs?
When writing the Topic Review Paper (TRP), maintain the following perspective: WHAT DOES RESEARCH SHOW ABOUT THE TOPIC? Maintain this focus in the paper, and cite sources whenever you make any kind of claims. You can definitely use information from the main textbook as well. However, do NOT use Nation (2013) as your main go-to secondhand source. In other words, if a study is mentioned in Nation (2013) that you need to cite in your paper, you must first review that study yourself and then cite directly from the original source; i.e. not via Nation (2013).
Topic Review Paper
The approach you should take, rather, is this: “What do published studies show about…?” Remember that the purpose of this assignment is to REVIEW what published studies have reported about the TOPIC and NOT what YOU think, believe, or feel about the topic.
