Students will be assigned two (2) case briefs throughout the term that correspond with the learning unit material for that week. The purpose of a case brief is to take something that may be as short as 2 pages, or as long as a few hundred pages, and summarize it down to 2-3 pages. Someone should be able to then take that case brief, read through it, and have a general idea of what happened, who claimed what, who won the case, and most importantly, why they won. The briefs will be due at the end of the week (by Sunday evening) and will be submitted electronically. Students will be provided with further instructions on how to complete these assignments. The assignment should be thorough, written in paragraph form, and follow the instructions given for the task assignment specifically APA. You should be able to provide more for the key facts. I need more in the way of explaining the court’s reasoning, court’s decision, and opinion (i.e., this should make up about one-page worth of explanation and exhibit that you understand the legal concepts).
