Discussion Theorist Tweets

A fun way to explore the theories is to bring their ideas into contemporary society. To do this you will be creating mock tweets in the discussion board and replying to them as if you were one of the theorists. As the theorist, write in the first person, e.g. “I believe…” Own your theory. Keep it short and simple.

To begin, pick a theorist. Look below for the thread I have created for your chosen theorist. Then reply to the thread by creating a user name for yourself (your chosen theorist), composing a short statement that summarizes an important part of your theory (try to stick to the 100-280 haracter limit, but I won’t be counting), keep your tweet to 1-3 sentences and add at least one hashtag to your tweet to really emphasize your point. Look at the example below for inspiration:

Example of Original Tweet (I chose to “be” Piaget)

Jean Piaget @childrenarescientists

A baby banging and mouthing a rattle is learning in action. #sensorimotorstage #ECEfav

Then find one other theorist’s tweet to reply to. Make sure you remain in character (so include your “theorist’s name” so we know who you are. Don’t worry your real name will automatically appear in your post so I will also know who you are for grading purposes). Here is an example so you can see what I am looking for:

Example of Reply tweet (Replying to Piaget’s tweet as the theorist Albert Bandura)

Albert Bandura @bobodollresearcher

@childrenarescientists I would buy this if they first watched an adult do it. You should really watch footage from my Bobo Doll experiment. #powerfulstuff #seeingislearning

When responding to a peer this week, respond as a theorist with a different point of view, so that you can express a different aspect of their theory or your own theorist and make the point of how the theorists are different.

You may choose from these theorists:

Erikson, Pavlov, Watson, Skinner, Bandura, Piaget, Vygotsky and Bronfenbrenner.

I look forward to seeing how creative you can get!
