Part 1 Please think about characters, descriptions, and settings from this week’s reading. Think about the relationship between characters, description, and setting WITH THE PLOT.
In order to fully respond to the following prompt, your response to this forum should be a minimum of two paragraphs.
What is your favorite story from the week?
- Choose a specific short story.
- HOW is the plot organized in this short story? WHY do you like this plot?
- HOW does the plot build our understanding of the theme, the characters, and even the setting?
- WHAT specific reasons do you have for liking this particular story?

Part 2 Step 1: Read the required readings.
Step 2: Choose four quotes that appeal to you. You need to quote from at least two different stories. Do you notice repetition? Symbolism? Personification? Look for words that IMPLY AN IDEA.
Step 3: Create the Introduction to the Quote.
Step 4: Decide if you are going to write an integrated quote or a standard quote.
Step 5: Write out the entire Introduction to the Quote and the quote itself with the appropriate citation.
Step 6: You will now have FOUR quotes with clear introductions and citations.
Step 7: Choose one quote to analyze.
Step 8: Write three or more sentences after the quote explaining HOW the quote illustrates your idea.
