Assignment 1:

Critical Thinking #4 Instructions (Groups)

This week, you are learning about groups. For this critical thinking activity, you are tasked with analyzing a group from a popular film or television show.

To begin, choose one film or television show from the list below for the purposes of the assignment. To help you get started in choosing a group, below you will find ten brief YouTube videos of a scene from the options. Note: You do not need to use or discuss only the scene depicted in the video. Instead, the videos are provided merely to help you find some inspiration from the options available to you. You will remark on your chosen film or television show as a whole, but we have isolated the specific characters you should focus on.

After you have chosen a film or television from the list below, open and complete the document below about group dynamics based on this week’s course material. Remember to use college-level writing skills when answering the questions. Simply SAVE the completed document on your computer, and then upload it into the dropbox below. (BE SURE to save your work! Don’t submit a blank document back to us!!) If you are unable to open the form in Word, I am adding a PDF version also. See below.

Assignment 2:

This week you were given an article to read that summarize key ideas for why, when, and how youth become active in political movements. Considering the current socio-historic climate we facing I want you to tie that article to the youth activism we see today. Youth are central to many of the fights for justice and social changes that are on the docket. How can the readings help you contextualize how and why these youth are mobilizing? What is impacting them? Why is youth participation important for social change? Submit a one-page paper with your answers to these questions. Be sure to make solid arguments, support your thoughts with ideas from the article, and cite when necessary.

Here is an article to get you started: Youth’s Role in BLM Movement (Links to an external site.).
