For this forum, find an example of violence which you believe can be analyzed utilizing one or more of the theories discussed in chapter two. Students can use one specific example like a specific shooting (Micro), or something more broad like mass shootings (macro). Students need to find examples with enough background information to apply theory with as little speculation as possible. Provide proper APA documentation of resources at the end of the original response. Resources can include accredited journals or news articles (as long as they are unbiased and focus on the facts) As always, be respectful of other student contributions to the discussion. Use what you have learned thus far and apply your sociological imagination.
I want a minimum of two resources and use of at least two theoretical perspectives. Proper use of more perspectives will increase your score.
I require an original post and two responses to original posts for proper credit. Work on expanding on areas outside of your comfort zone. Grades will be based on proper application of various theoretical perspectives (work on application of more than one approach), quality of discussion and proper documentation of resources. Each original post should be at least one page, double spaced.
For the most part, these will be graded on an A, B or C basis unless a lack of effort requires a lower grade. Again, work on utilizing material from the course in your analysis.
